X10 or X10 Military?
Its a question we are seeing a lot! There really are minimal differences between the X10 and its military counterpart apart from the obvious styling - the X10M sports an all black facial. The military version also features a red backlight and compass in degrees of mils units
A lesser know difference is that the GPS funtion of the X10M can be set to use the MGRS system (Millitary Grid Reference System):
The MGRS system was designed to simplify the specification of position and
passing of coordinates for soldiers and marines. The MGRS system allows
users to abbreviate the 13-digit UTM coordinate, making it easier to use.
We have not found any immediate advantage here - unless of course you are calling the US army out to rescue you, they may find you a little faster!

Suunto is going to announce its new watch on 26 May 2009. So think of it before you do any purchase.
I would really appreciate if Suunto makes adventure watches which really suit for adventure gadgeteers which may require these features:(I prepared this for a long time, made extensive research, hope to get considered)
1. Wireless pc-watch/ watch-watch connectivity(ANT)
2. Weather station/ forecaster(humidity hygrometer)
3. Walkie talkie(e.g. WRL-00560 module, vhf, long extensible antenna/antenna around the strap)
4. Solar
5. UV sensor(measure UV index)
6. Thermometer(facing outward, does not interfere with the wearer's body temperature)
7. Inertial navigation system(e.g. Intel's InertiaDot IMU, Use 3-axis magnetometer, 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer)
8. Simple torch
9. High frequency mosquito repeller
10. Laser ignition system(IR burner)
11. Thick Sapphire glass with rubber damper side, lens coated with Diamond-Like Carbon
12. Titanium casing and strap(lightweight), coated with Diamond-Like Carbon film(resist abrasion)
13. UV germicidal LED(to prepare drinking water in the wild)
14. Vibration alert/ alarm
15. Voice recording for logbook
16. Voice recognition for fast operation
These features are wished to be integrated into future Suunto adventure watches, not forgetting current features which should be retained. I have tried to appeal to Suunto before. Comeon Suunto, at least give us a surprise, let's say a simple torch in your watches, we really appreciate that.
I am looking forward to some user review videos about Suunto X10 in youtube since it is already about 8 months after the debut of this watch.
